Thomás is an experienced sports lawyer and has been with Berlin Sports Law for more than 5 years. Pablo García Cuervo is a Spanish communications professional and the current CEO of DV7 Group in Europe, the global sports agency founded by former footballer David Villa. At DV7, he leads the agency’s European operations, focusing on talent development and athlete representation through its academies and management divisions.
Before, García Cuervo served as Director of Communication at the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), where he also held the role of Head of Press for the national team. He began his career as a journalist, working with major Spanish media outlets and serving as director of Radio Marca Asturias.

Manal Rmeity is a seasoned legal sports professional who plays a vital role in shaping the legal landscape of sports in the Middle East. She currently serves as Legal Counsel at the Qatar Stars League, where she advises on legal matters related to contracts, compliance, regulations, and disciplinary proceedings. Manal also acts as an Investigator and Prosecutor for the International Boxing Association (IBA), representing the IBA in cases before the Boxing International Investigative Unit (BIIU). Prof. Dr. Martin Schimke, LL.M. is Of Counsel at the law firm Bird & Bird, and has been working as a lawyer and specialist in labour and sports law for over 30 years. After his active time in the German Professional Basketball League and as a national player, he was a member of the legal committee and the anti-doping commission of the DBB (German Basketball Federation), as well as a member of the arbitration court of the German Professional Ice hockey League (DEL). Since 1999, he has been a member of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne and was a member of the so-called Ad hoc Divisions of the CAS during the 2012 London and 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Games.

Marlo Carmen Sweatman is a former professional footballer and a trailblazer for women’s football worldwide. She began her professional career in Hungary before moving to Brooklyn FC in the United States. Age: 18+
English Language: Level B2 or above (program is conducted in English)
Academic & Professional Background: No prior experience required, but a strong interest in sports law or management is recommended
Visa Requirements: Non-EU applicants may need a Schengen VISA. Applicants are responsible for securing their visas (guidance from our admission team may be provided upon request)

The BSL Summer School takes place across three unique locations, combining modern learning spaces with real-world football environments.
Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB)
Our main classes are held at the Centro Cultural de Belém, one of Lisbon’s most iconic cultural spaces.
SL Benfica Stadium
Participants will experience football from the inside with a dedicated day at the SL Benfica Stadium and get a unique opportunity to connect theory with real-life practice.
Benfica Training Centre
The program also includes sessions at the Benfica Training Centre in Seixal, which allows participants to better understand the organizational and management aspects that support elite-level football.

What will my daily schedule look like?
Each day is structured around “A Day in the Life of” different professionals in the sports industry. Expect interactive workshops, case studies, guest lectures, and site visits. Evenings will include networking events and social activities.
What should I bring?

What are the admission requirements?
- Age: 18+
- English Proficiency: Minimum B2 level (as all sessions are in English)
- Background: No prior legal experience required, but an interest in sports law or management is recommended
Is there an application deadline?
The final application deadline ends on 30 June 2026, but spots are limited!
How much does the program cost?
The Program Fee is €2.400, and includes:

Are accommodation and flights included?
Accommodation is not included, but we will provide recommended hotel/hostel options close to the venue. Flights are not included, and participants must arrange their own travel to Lisbon.
Are there any discounts available?
Yes. We offer a Super Early Bird rate of €1,900 for the first 20 confirmed participants. Once these spots are filled, the regular program fee of €2,400 will apply.
Early Bird places are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis after acceptance and payment confirmation.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payment details will be provided after acceptance into the program.
Do I need a visa to attend the program?
EU/Schengen Zone Citizens – No visa required.
Non-EU Applicants – You may need a Schengen visa to enter Portugal. We recommend checking your country’s visa requirements.
Will you provide visa support?
Yes! If you require a visa, we can provide an official invitation letter after you have completed your payment. However, obtaining a visa is the participant’s responsibility.
